Eligibility Criteria for Admission in Medicine

Undergraduate course

Undergraduate course is known as M.B.B.S. (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery). An MBBS aspirant can apply for entrance exam after completion of 10+2 with minimum 55% marks and should also have Physics, Chemistry and Biology at 10+2 level.  

Post graduate course

In order to pursue M.D. (Doctor of Medicine), one needs to possess M.B.B.S. degree along with internship experience.

Doctoral Course

D.M: This is a doctorate degree awarded by many universities in US and is equivalent to a PhD degree. Doctors possessing M.D. degree are eligible to for this course.

Undergraduate Courses

After completing the undergraduate course in Medicine, a medical degree aspirant proudly earns title of ‘M.B.B.S Doctor’. M.B.B.S is an abbreviated form of Bachelor of Medicine. The duration of M.B.B.S course is 5 years within which one has to undergo training of six months to complete the degree program.

Postgraduate Courses

Post graduation in the domain of Medicine is titled as M.D. (Doctor of Medicine). It is a super specialisation in the Medicine domain and the duration of this course is three years.

Doctoral Course

After completion of M.D. degree, one can also choose to pursue higher studies to become D.M. which is equivalent to Ph.D. degree. The duration of doctoral course is 3-4 years or depending upon the time taken in completion of thesis, as per university guidelines.
